Third Tiger snow hike

A view from the Tiger 3 trail close to the summit

On Friday, March 1, I cut my time to reach Tiger 3's summit on snow down to 2 hours; on the last hike, it took three hours. And I reduced my time back to the trailhead from 2 hours to one hour. Also, I learned to remember to take my sun glasses. The brightness of the sun on open snow was remarkable.

It appears the hike was hard on my right foot; it is sore from walking on it.

I used a slightly smaller pack and could probably have removed other items such as unnecessary clothing.

The forest was shedding its snow, which was only continuous on the trail after the 1 mile marker.

Statistics for the day:

Distance: 6 miles
Elevation gain:  2,000 feet.
Location: Tiger 3
Conditions: Cold; packed snow; blue sky; very bright in exposed areas
Load: Probably 18 pounds
:

Statistics, year to date:

Distance: 29.1 miles
Elevation gain: 9,320 feet
