July 28, Thursday: Rattlesnake Ledge -- record time

The path ahead on the Rattlesnake Ledge trail.

Today was the day I set my personal record for climbing the Rattlesnake Ledge trail: 1 hour, 4 minutes.

Leave trailhead:  9:03 a.m.
Arrive ledge: 10:07 a.m. -- one hour four minutes
Leave ledge: 10:45 a.m.
Arrive trailhead: 11:36 a.m.
Back at car: 11:45 a.m.
Packing: 17-pound backpack
Elevation gain:  1,160 feet
Distance: 8 km (car to car; trailhead distance is 6.4 km)
Speed: 1.78 mph
Heart rate: High, usually above 130 bpm; frequently above 136 bpm and occasionally above 140 bpm.

The green and red boxes show start and finish points; the loop shows estimated position of trailhead.

Phone altimeter app showed variation of 903 ft at trailhead to 2,016 ft at ledge, for 1113 feet elevation gain. Washington Trails Association says 2,078 ft at ledge and 1,160 elevation gain.. Map My Hike says about 864 at trailhead to 1,966 at summit, for 1102 elevation gain. I'm going with WTA.
