Pre-safari hikes

Bus, Talus trails

today I hiked the Bus, Nook and Talus Rock trails with Roger Matthews. Roger had never seen the bus beside the bus trail, so we visited the site, dodging a wasps nest that had taken up residency inside the remains of the abandoned bus carcass mentioned in my Oct. 11, 2017 post, "A nature/photography hike." We climbed slow and deliberately. Roger forgot to set his Map My Hike program when we started, but we began the program at what we guessed would be the high point of the hike to at least record elevation gain.. Afterward Roger determined that we likely had a gain of 750 feet, a figure I adjusted conservatively to 700 feet.

Statistics:

Date: June 16, 2018
Companion:   Roger Matthews
Distance: At least 2.5 miles in the loop we followed.
Load: 30-pounds -- weight vest and backpack
Time: No hurry
Elevation Gain: 700 feet

Walk to Ivar's Fish Bar
